ULIMA commitment to sustainable development reflected in the QUALENV project
The University of Lima will be part of the Erasmus + Change the Climate Project: Assuring the Quality of Environmental Strategies in Latin-American Higher Education (Qualenv). At the beginning of this year, our House of Studies received the invitation to collaborate with this initiative, which aims to promote the sustainable development of partner countries in the field of higher education through environmental practices and quality processes aligned with the SDGs ( UN).
Sixteen prestigious universities in Europe and Latin America are involved in the project. The Ulima team, led by Elsie Bonilla, Director of Planning and Accreditation, will be in charge of developing environmental sustainability strategies for the education sector. The proposal and the content will be replicated in different parts of the world. In that sense, she noted:
“It is important to highlight that the actions proposed in the project will be implemented first at the University. We are focused on establishing an environmental management system and a manual to accompany its application. In La Ulima we have started a program to reduce environmental impact for some time. The modern Cinquantenaire Towers and their LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, granted by the United States Green Building Council to sustainable buildings with a favorable impact on the environment, are a sample of our orientation towards sustainability”.
