UNISUL team presented results of the QUALENV project at the Scientific Initiation Conference 2021 (JUNIC)
JUNIC’s scope in the region extends with the simultaneous holding of the International Research Symposium, which promotes integration and debates between different research groups, representatives of the scientific community recognized nationally and internationally, aiming at the improvement of their actions in the development of science and technology.
The International Research Symposium aims to discuss the contributions of stakeholders in the Green Campus initiatives adopted by universities. The symposium will involve undergraduate and graduate students, professors and researchers from the Universidade do Sul de Santa Catarina, the Federal University of Santa Catarina and the Ânima Ecosystem around the theme of promoting Sustainable Development, involving stakeholders and institutions. certifiers. On the occasion, researchers from national and international HEIs will tell us about their experiences on the subject.
Population growth, rising prosperity and rapid urbanization are pushing global demand for natural resources beyond the Earth’s carrying capacity. Along with climate change, these pressures are causing significant environmental degradation in many parts of the planet. Latin America is particularly vulnerable. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) constitute urgent and motivating calls for higher education to be part of future generations of engaged citizens who are aware of their role in creating just and healthy societies. The main objective of the QualEnv project is to increase the contribution of Latin American Universities to Sustainable Development, through the implementation of systematic environmental practices and quality processes in line with the UN SDGs, improving the management and operation of higher education institutions. The project impact will reach stakeholders beyond the project partnership at local, regional and national levels, contributing to behavior change for a sustainable future.
The International Research Symposium is supported by the European Commission/European Union under the Erasmus+ Programme: Capacity-Building projects in the field of Higher Education (E+CBHE), through the project “Change the Climate: Assuring the Quality of Environmental Strategies in Latin American Higher Education/QualEnv”, which aims to implement systematic environmental practices and quality processes in line with the SDGs, seeking to improve the management and operations of HEIs.
